April Cornell and vintage Hull...

<div style="text-align: center;">I found a beautiful runner at <a href="http://www.aprilcornell.com/">April Cornell</a> and wanted to do a table with it for a while. The only floral options I have right now are my lilies, and since they are just about finished blooming for the season, I thought I better do it now! This is probably not a table you would look at and think "April Cornell" but you know I always like to go a different direction. Let's start with the centerpiece...</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1vk3cDZRmcKvrX6T5cHWcLJ4KjZcG2oQEmOizTj72pAwqSwy0GuAXRWN332M-Dh17I-jORsKC_7OZmnrjiI_zqC9aNwvFx84TY74obxb8oTpXQjNAZT_CfEXQbfr3el_hYayPQ5v-gA/s1600/orange1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1vk3cDZRmcKvrX6T5cHWcLJ4KjZcG2oQEmOizTj72pAwqSwy0GuAXRWN332M-Dh17I-jORsKC_7OZmnrjiI_zqC9aNwvFx84TY74obxb8oTpXQjNAZT_CfEXQbfr3el_hYayPQ5v-gA/s640/orange1.jpg" width="592" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I gathered lilies, "butterfly weed," coreopsis, daisies, black-eyed susans, ferns, mums, zinnias and queen Anne's lace from my mom's property and mine. Lucy's Franciscan Ivy--part 2

<div style="text-align: center;">Today I am sharing my version of "green and white" with my Franciscan "Ivy" from "I Love Lucy" fame! I am so in love with this pattern, and we have been using it for everyday.  I gave it a twist as I was given this beautiful Orchid by a lovely little girl at church. It occurred to me that it would be a wonderful, organic accent to the  Ivy. <div style="text-align: center;">I am so excited to share with you all the incredible generosity of Dana at <a href="http://ranchdressing-dbstyle.blogspot.com/">"Ranch Dressing."</a> After she saw my post with the Pier One "Vallarta" dinnerware, of which I only had three salad plates, she graciously sent me what she had of this pattern! I was so touched! This pattern is hard to find on ebay and expensive at Replacements. What a sweet gesture! She has a beautiful blog, so please go by and visit her.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_MBnunA-pZ14/TBJO2DdxJvI/AAAAAAAAB3g/yFKxapWFBEM/s1600/vallarta.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="622" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_MBnunA-pZ14/TBJO2DdxJvI/AAAAAAAAB3g/yFKxapWFBEM/s640/vallarta.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Just look...5 salad plates, the serving bowl and platter!! Turkish Chicken Tava...

<div style="text-align: center;">Hi everyone! Seems like time is flying here and I cannot keep up! I thought I would share this recipe I have for "Turkish Chicken Tava."  I fell in love with this in Turkey and searched for a recipe but could not really match it. So I kind of came up with my own version.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZzhiJF6T61yhc6e2ubdr4kZMnF4DnNqJ4gE6tNzkZdzXTJYarPBxL096ylDcaUjAI4LVYiPJrAKGQnGcXs_2ClwlhbkxJUDXvmHbFKetrQm0nm1Ju3AkLjoGMwDFlSxaXRpKZeu_yqw/s1600/chickentava.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZzhiJF6T61yhc6e2ubdr4kZMnF4DnNqJ4gE6tNzkZdzXTJYarPBxL096ylDcaUjAI4LVYiPJrAKGQnGcXs_2ClwlhbkxJUDXvmHbFKetrQm0nm1Ju3AkLjoGMwDFlSxaXRpKZeu_yqw/s640/chickentava.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">This is a very easy, go to dish when you are pressed for time. First I start the rice, which I always make with chicken broth instead of water. Then, I take frozen chicken breasts or tenders and saute them in butter and olive oil with a little minced garlic and chopped onion. I also sprinkle Adobo on meat when I saute, but that's up to you.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I then add a large can, or jar of my mom's home grown and canned, diced tomatoes and whatever seasoning I have around. Usually it's oregano, basil, thyme, etc. And that's pretty much it. I simmer until I like the flavor. I then serve it over rice and sprinkle Parmesan Cheese on top. My kids love it, my parents love it, my hubby loves it, and it's easy.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">This is great with a loaf of French bread and a salad.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">On another note, we are hard at work writing and recording our CD. It is a very tedious process, but one that will be worth it in the end. Hope you all enjoy your weekend!! Our church is hosting a "Free Market" for people in need Saturday, and I could not be more excited. This will be our third one and they are always such incredible events. Kind of puts things in perspective...</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Anita</div>

How to transform an ugly outdoor planter!

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;">Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day and a great weekend!! We were finally able to get into the yard, or in our case, the woods and clean up a lot of the leftover mess from all the snow storms of the winter. There is much more to do, but we got a good start! My yearly project before Mother's Day, is getting the porches and decks ready to enjoy, and that we did over the last few days. We were able to relax outside with the children this afternoon after church and lunch with my mom. I'll post some photos of that later.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">One of the projects I did was to transform a very ugly planter!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhej1dejs9BaowoOxy9xRX9Z5cUx5Jo1DM7-I2Sg8tXlD2_zLD3QrNMoXxfGD7poC1sOO-B6bmLPgkvuFVMMpkKbgZ4ctMrh8E8Gny2ezIAxVeQoiEdcEWXhDaGg6qo5rexm2dIu9oiYA/s1600/pot1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhej1dejs9BaowoOxy9xRX9Z5cUx5Jo1DM7-I2Sg8tXlD2_zLD3QrNMoXxfGD7poC1sOO-B6bmLPgkvuFVMMpkKbgZ4ctMrh8E8Gny2ezIAxVeQoiEdcEWXhDaGg6qo5rexm2dIu9oiYA/s640/pot1.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Pretty ugly, right?
